Ikaw pa rin ang Patutunguhan

"Kung saan saan ako dinala ng alon, tila naliligaw, 'di alam ang patutunguhan…"

There was a time when I felt like I was merely drifting—moving forward but unsure of where I was meant to be. Life has a funny way of making us feel lost, like we’re caught in waves with no clear direction. But then, sometimes, someone comes along, and suddenly, everything starts to make sense.

I still remember the first time I really noticed him. Not in the fleeting, casual way you see a person in passing, but in the kind of way that lingers. He had this effortless charm, a presence that wasn’t loud yet impossible to ignore. I admired the way he carried himself, the way he spoke, the way he simply was. But above all, I fell for his smile. There was something about it—something warm, something real. It made everything else fade into the background.

At the time, he didn’t know. I was just another face in the crowd, another quiet observer keeping my admiration tucked away in passing glances and subtle parinig on Instagram. My favorite way? Music. One song, in particular, held the weight of what I never had the courage to say: Patutunguhan by Cup of Joe.

The song spoke of feeling lost, unsure of where to go, until someone enters your life and suddenly, everything becomes clear. Every direction—north, south, east, and west—somehow leads back to them. They become the destination, the steady presence that turns wandering into arriving. And maybe, in the quietest way, that’s exactly what he became to me.

Looking back, I realize how funny fate works. How the universe has a way of pulling people together at just the right moment, even when you least expect it. Because somehow, he saw me too. The stars aligned, the right pieces fell into place, and now here we are—him and me, walking this path together.

There’s something beautiful about love when it happens this way. No rush, no grand declarations. Just a slow, steady pull toward something that was meant to be. Love doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet moments, the ones that don’t seem like much until you look back and realize—that was it. That was the moment everything started to change.

And now, I’m here. With him. With someone who makes every ordinary day feel like magic, someone who shows me that love isn’t just about the destination—it’s about every step, every moment, every quiet certainty that says: You are exactly where you’re meant to be.

Love doesn’t always happen in a loud, dramatic way. Sometimes, it’s quiet. Sometimes, it sneaks up on you, woven into ordinary moments—stolen glances, unspoken words, a song that somehow becomes your song. And sometimes, love is just knowing that no matter which direction life takes you, there will always be one place, one person, you’re meant to come back to.

And for me, that person is him. My constant. My guiding light. My patutunguhan.
