Four Destinations, One Adventure by: Althea Allyson Chua
Traveling has always been my way of learning --- not just about places but also about the people, the culture, history, and the little moments that make life special. Each destination I've been leaves a mark on me, a memory that lingers long after I've returned home. My trips to Tagaytay, Baguio, Intramuros, and Laguna were no exception. Each place had something unique to offer.
Tagaytay: A view to remember
The moment I arrived at the tagaytay for the first time. I felt an instant sense of calm. The cool breeze, scenic views, and the iconic sight of Taal Volcano makes it a must visit destination. My favorite moments in Tagaytay is when my family and I went to Sky Ranch, I felt like a kid again with the thrilling rides, i rode some of their rides and It was so fun. After that, we ate at the restaurant and I tried their bulalo, after we eat, we went back to the place where we will stay for the night and get some rest, and stay up all night until midnight and then the next day, Me, My Aunt, And my Grandmother, went to their market and rode a trycicle, after that we went back to the hotel, had a lunch and packed our things and we left the hotel. Though it only last for like one day, i had fun and i enjoyed our travel to Tagaytay.
Baguio: The First Time I've been in Baguio
The first time I've been in Baguio wasn't a vacation but it was for our retreat. Unlike the usual excitement of travel, this trip felt different. It wasn’t just about the place; it was about what I was meant to experience there.
The moment we arrived, I was greeted by Baguio’s signature cold air—a refreshing contrast to the heat of the lowlands. The scent of pine trees filled my lungs, and I immediately understood why people say Baguio has a way of making you feel at peace. Our retreat was held in a quiet place, away from the crowded tourist spots. It was serene, surrounded by towering trees and rolling fog that made the world feel softer, almost dreamlike. The days were spent in deep reflection, moments of silence, and lessons that made me look inward. When we left the retreat house on third day, we went to Burnham Park and there, i experienced to ride their go kart, that I've always wanted to try and i had so much fun riding the go kart, after that me and some of my classmates and friends, we rode a boat at the burnham lake. I would say that going to burnham park is fun because you have so many activities to do there.
Intramuros: Walking through the Past
Not all journeys take you forward. Some take you back.
Inside Intramuros, time seems to stand still. The buildings' old-world elegance, the tall stone walls, and the cobblestone streets all conveyed tales of a city that had endured. I could just hear the history permeating every nook and cranny as we strolled through its streets.
We went their famous Manila Cathedral which is also the highlight of our visit.
Standing in front of its grand façade, I couldn’t help but be in awe of its intricate details. The towering arches, the stained glass windows, the solemn beauty of the interior—it was a sight that demanded quiet admiration. Inside, I sat for a while, letting the peaceful atmosphere sink in. There was a certain serenity in the way the light filtered through the windows, casting colorful patterns on the floor. For a moment, time seemed to slow down, and I simply took it all in.
Laguna: Scenic Mountain View
Unlike Baguio, my visit in Laguna was just for fun. We went there just to swim, but even in that short time, I caught glimpses of its natural beauty.
As we drove through the province, I saw lush green fields, quiet towns, and rolling hills—a refreshing change from the usual cityscape. The resort we stayed in had a scenic view of the mountain. The moment I stepped into the pool, I felt the warmth wrap around me like a comforting embrace. It wasn’t the usual cold, refreshing pool experience—it was more like soaking in a giant, natural bathtub. My muscles relaxed instantly, and I could feel the stress melting away.
Although we didn’t explore much outside the resort, I knew that Laguna had so much more to offer. From the car ride alone, I caught glimpses of the province’s beauty—hidden rivers, cascading waterfalls, and stretches of greenery that seemed to go on forever.
